Improve Playground Safety
A recent study shows that 90 percent of playground structures are considered dangerous for children due to the poor surfaces. Furthermore, on average there are more than 200,000 playground injuries that end up in the hospitals’ emergency rooms annually. In order to reduce playground injuries and enhance playing experience, you can use recycled rubber for playground surfacing, rubber band and wear mats for high impact areas such as beneath swings and slides. Why recycled rubber? According to a shock absorption test done by the United States Testing Company and Consumer Products Safety Commission, recycled rubber works best to absorb shock compared to other types of playground surfaces including wood mulch, fine gravel, fine sand and pea gravel.
Recycled rubber mulch retains its resiliency all year-round and is odor-free. Rubber mulch is especially great as outdoor playground surfacing since it will not freeze, rot or mold. It also will not breed or attract insects and it only requires minimum maintenance, if any. If you are considering using rubber mulch for playground, you can try Rubberecycle’s PlaySafer Rubber Mulch that conforms to all CPSC safety guidelines and has earned ADA approval. By using recycled rubber mulch you also help the environment from unused tires that will go to landfills otherwise. Playsafer Rubber Mulch is available in a variety of vibrant colors that you can pick to enhance your playground appeal. You can also try the rubber mulch calculator to determine the amount of mulch you will need for your playground. Get your rubber mulch and improve your playground safety for your little ones.
